An Insiders Guide to Clubbing in Kenya

Here are a few of my favorite clubs/bars in Nairobi and at the Coast.

The Pavement (Westlands roundabout, opposite 4 Aces Casino, Nairobi)
- Ksh. 500 entrance on Friday and Saturday

-Sick clubbing experience, maybe not much by European standards, but probably about the best fare you'll find in East Africa.
-Very mixed crowd, expats, tourists, local businessmen, even US Marines on R&R - makes for an interesting party experience - but also has its fair share of malaya's (ie. whores) - BEWARE!
-Drinks are expensive by Kenyan standards, Ksh. 100 for a Tusker and Ksh. 150 for a mixed drink, still a steal if your from abroad. Get crunked for under $20 USD.
-Party doesn't really get going until 10:30pm on Fri. and Sat., but keeps hopping until around 4am.
-Thursday nights is Salsa night, good band, and surprisingly some awesome Salsa'ers! No entrance cover.

Gypsies - No Entrance Charge
-Centrally located in Westlands, behind the old Uchumi supermarket, next to the Four Aces Casino and opposite the Pavement.
-Great on most weekday nights from about 7pm onwards.
-Sports bar with a couple big screen TVs
-GUIDE BOOK DEBUNKED: According to travel guides it has a "gay-friendly" night Tuesday nights. In my experience, this is a completely bogus claim, as homosexuality is strictly illegal in Kenya, and the clientel that I have observed there on Tuesdays are certainly not openly gay.

Carnivore (Carni) - 300 Ksh on Friday and Saturday nights
- Wednesday nights have a sick rock night.

Overall, very nice. I like the theme; also, you're allowed to have two Adsense ad units, one adsense text link unit, and two adsense google search bars per page--try to find space for them if you can do it without making it look spammy, if not don't do it.

It's REALLY good to get links from other people with a website OF A SIMILAR THEME--so don't go spammy your site around everywhere, but if you know any way to get a link to your site on some other site about Kenya or travel advice (hint: search google for 'kenya travel advice', etc.) then definitely try to get a link from that site.

Cheers,
Andrew
